随着全球流动和交流的兴起, 具有不同文化身份的人之间的接触越来越普遍. 不太明显的原因是为什么这些遭遇可能具有挑战性和, 更重要的是, 克服因沟通风格和模式的差异而产生的沟通障碍所必需的知识和技能. 本课程旨在为学生提供在相互联系的世界中成为有能力的全球公民所需的工具.
跨文化交际的研究不仅需要理解诸如“文化”之类的广义概念。, “沟通”, 和“身份”, 同时也要学习不同文化群体的沟通方式. 因此，本课程探讨文化与沟通之间的互动，并向学生介绍建立跨文化能力所需的知识和技能. 更具体地说, this course invites students to analyze and evaluate how their own cultural identity influences communication with others; encourages interaction with the host culture; and prepares students with knowledge and skills to be effective and ethical intercultural communicators.
